I was a huge fan of the show 24 starring Kiefer Sutherland. Revolutionary for its time and it’s actually coming back for a ninth season in Spring of 2014 and I couldn’t be more excited for it.

Anyway, in 2005, Kiefer and the band he signed and helped promote (Rocco Deluca and the Burden), went on a tour across Europe. A documentary was made about this tour titled I Trust You To Kill Me, named after one of the band’s songs. It debuted in New York City where Kiefer was actually there to introduce the film and my family and I all went to go see it.

The documentary was fantastic and I just found the entire thing on Youtube. I recommend watching the whole thing as it really gives you insight into the ‘behind the scenes’ of a rock band, and in particular Kiefer Sutherland. Kiefer was always known as a party-hard guy and has had his fair share of embarrassing moments. He is very open about this throughout the film. 7 years ago, I remembered one scene and I always wanted to try and find that scene again. I haven’t been able to until I found the whole documentary on Youtube.

It is Kiefer Sutherland talking openly about his life and the way he lives it. Click to watch:

Here I transcribe his words:

Certainly making a film about the band was something that was very interesting to me. And I’m at a point in my life where I am discovering a lot about myself. I didn’t think I’d be as much a part of this film as it kind of had become. Look, I spent most of my life really protecting my privacy. The only time it becomes a problem is when I end up doing something really stupid and I embarrass my family. They don’t deserve that. Some people might go, “What a spoiled ass. What a privileged little prick. And it’s not that hard, get your shit together,” you know? And whoever does say that, I’m right there with you. You know, sometimes you have to go through something to find out why you did it. I don’t completely get it. It really has everything to do with just taking a chance on something finally, you know? Stop being so scared. And if everybody ends up not liking you for it, then they weren’t going to like you for real anyways. So there you are.
